The story

Founded in 1962, Robson Civil Projects is one of the leading civil construction companies on the east coast of Australia. The company has developed partnerships with several major clients and engineering consultancy firms over the years. The technical capabilities and resources to deliver complex civil projects across the country to the clients are top-notch. These operations are managed through the consistent application of an integrated management system that provides a framework for the management of health, safety, environmental, and quality responsibilities.

Kazu Hosoi, the Technical Support Officer at Robson Civil Projects distributed around 40-50 iPads to the employees for essential work-related activities. The idea of managing and controlling all the iPads remotely seemed to be a daunting task and creating separate Apple IDs manually for every employee device turned out to be time-consuming. Kazu wanted to control and monitor all the iPads remotely using a reliable solution. After getting a recommendation from one of his colleagues, he decided to try out Hexnode. The trial version provided by Hexnode gave a clear-cut idea on how it could help his use case massively. Kazu went on to purchase the product since the satisfaction from using the initial trial version was immense.

“It’s pretty straightforward with a simple UI. Definitely saved time. It was time consuming to set up all devices individually before using Hexnode.”

Apple Device Enrolment Program (DEP) now known as Apple Business Manager (ABM) is an online service to help enterprises mitigate the complexities encountered while using and configuring newly purchased corporate-owned Apple devices. With Hexnode, the iPads were enrolled in DEP and were supervised remotely by applying the DEP policy. The apps purchased from the Volume Purchase Program (VPP) were installed silently on the devices using the Hexnode portal. In addition, the Exchange ActiveSync settings enabled him to configure all the work devices with the ActiveSync account remotely. It syncs emails, attachments, contacts, calendars, and other accounts between the devices and the Exchange server, thus providing access to this information even in the absence of a network connection. The Exchange ActiveSync provides standard encryption services like SSL encryption to add security for communication with the server. Hexnode allowed Kazu to configure ActiveSync settings for the iPads remotely with ease.

“Initial setup stage is very easy. That’s the main factor. I would definitely recommend Hexnode and have already recommended to couple of friends who are in IT department”

The data on the iPads could be erased remotely with the remote wipe feature. This feature was very crucial in safeguarding important and confidential data from falling into the wrong hands. The technical support team at Hexnode was brisk and responsive throughout the process of implementation. The product was simple enough for Kazu to operate on his own after the initial stages. He was also very impressed with the reasonable price range compared to the other MDM solutions in the market. Hexnode served the purpose for Kazu with no flaws. Besides, Hexnode continues to make strides each day in developing the solution for a secure and better end-user experience.

In a nutshell
