Deploy eSIM on Android devices with Hexnode UEM to bring cellular provisioning into your management console. With the new Deploy eSIM and Remove eSIM remote actions, IT teams can provide cellular profiles to supported Android devices and remove them when requirements change.
From onboarding remote employees to preparing devices for reassignment, these actions give administrators a way to manage cellular profiles without handling physical SIM cards.
Two new actions for Android cellular management
Hexnode UEM now supports remote deployment and removal of Android eSIM profiles. Each action addresses a different part of the profile’s lifecycle.
- Deploy eSIM – Provisions an eSIM profile remotely and supports activation on the device. Administrators can initiate the process from the console without having the device in hand.
- Remove eSIM – Deletes profiles that Hexnode deployed to the device. Administrators can use it when an employee leaves, hardware changes hands, or the organization moves to a different carrier plan.
Together, these actions cover adding a cellular profile and removing it when it no longer serves the device’s intended use.
Keep cellular provisioning connected to device management
Physical SIM management can add logistical work to remote deployments and device refreshes. Hexnode’s eSIM actions move profile provisioning and removal into the console, giving administrators a remote way to handle those tasks.
The practical value extends beyond the first deployment. Cellular requirements can change during a device’s working life, including when its user or carrier plan changes. Hexnode supports managing the profile at those points, alongside the initial provisioning task.
Think of the workflow in terms of the assignment: provide the required profile, then review its continued use when that assignment changes.
Key eSIM management capabilities for Android devices
These capabilities apply to several familiar IT workflows, from setting up cellular access to removing an existing profile.
1. Provision profiles for remote employees
Use Deploy eSIM when onboarding employees who work away from the IT team. Administrators can initiate provisioning remotely on supported Android devices, without arranging physical access for the IT team to install a SIM card.
This also supports provisioning during device replacement and refresh cycles.
2. Remove profiles during offboarding and reassignment
Use Remove eSIM to address the existing cellular profile when an employee leaves or a device moves to another user.
Include profile removal in the relevant handover process. The action removes the profile from the device; it does not cancel the associated carrier plan. Handle any service cancellation separately with the carrier.
3. Support transitions between carrier plans
When moving a device to a different carrier plan, administrators can remove its existing Hexnode-deployed profile.
Plan the change with connectivity in mind. If that profile supplies the device’s only active cellular connection, establish another network connection before removal so the device can continue communicating with Hexnode.
