How to edit APN settings on iPhone?

Access Point Name (APN) acts as a gateway between your cellular device and the internet. That is, it defines a network path for your device to connect to the internet. You need to configure your device with the right APN, which your carrier verifies at the time of establishing a data connection.

When you configure an APN, several settings and policies will be associated with it. The carrier then assigns you an IP address and an encryption method to securely connect to the public internet.

To configure APN settings for your iPhone, you can automatically enter the settings if your carrier allows that. You can do this by going to “cellular data” in settings and choosing “use carrier settings”.
Else, if your carrier allows it, you can set it up manually by-

  1. Go to settings
  2. Select cellular/mobile data.
  3. Select cellular data/mobile data options
  4. Go to cellular/mobile data network

If you don’t have any of these options, this might be because your carrier doesn’t allow it. In that case, you can contact your carrier.

With Hexnode, you can remotely configure your APN settings using a policy. All you got to do is log in to the Hexnode portal and create a new policy or choose an existing one.

  1. Go to iOS
  2. Select Network
  3. Click on APN

Now you can configure your APN settings by filling the necessary fields and after that, associating the policy to the devices.
