How do I turn on work profile in Android?

Work profile in Android helps organizations prevent accidental data leaks through BYOD devices. The work profile creates a container that separates work apps and data from personal data in an employee’s device. All the data within this container can be managed by the organization.

Work profile can be enabled from the Settings menu on your Android device. If the option is not found under Settings, it will be listed under Accounts. Work profile can be enabled or disabled from the same menu.

It can also be activated using a UEM solution like Hexnode via Android Enterprise. Enroll your device in Android Enterprise Profile Owner mode to allow your device to be managed by Hexnode.

To enable work profile via Hexnode follow these steps.

  • Subscribe to Hexnode’s free trial.
  • Set up your organization in Android Enterprise.
  • Download and open the Hexnode for Work App on your Android device.
  • Scan the enrollment QR code from the Hexnode Portal.
  • Follow the on-screen steps and complete the setup wizard.

Once the setup is complete, the device will be enrolled under Hexnode with its work profile enabled. This is the most commonly used enrollment method to enable work profile in Android. Devices can also be enrolled in Profile Owner mode under the Android Enterprise program via G Suite.
