San Fransisco, CA: The emerging leader in Unified Endpoint Management, Hexnode has announced its support for OEMConfig, the latest breakthrough in Android device management. OEMConfig delivers custom device configurations developed by Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs) to EMM vendors using managed app configurations, an Android Enterprise feature.

Prior to the introduction of Android Enterprise, native Android management features were limited, and popular OEMs like Samsung and Zebra developed their own set of APIs to provide advanced management capabilities. EMM vendors were required to undergo extensive custom development to roll out these OEM specific features. OEMConfig solves these problems by providing a level field for all Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs) to deliver their proprietary device management features. EMM vendors providing support for OEMConfig and Android Enterprise can roll out these features with zero-day support.

Vipin Govind, Android Systems Engineer at Hexnode, says, “OEMConfig is bound to catapult Android devices right to the top in business arena and we’re on board with it.”

Hexnode currently supports Samsung, Zebra, Honeywell, Datalogic, Kyocera and Spectralink, who have already released their OEMConfig apps and will support every OEM that enters the field. These applications are uploaded to Google Play console by the OEM vendors and can be accessed by IT admins through their EMM portal.

“We expect to see more vendors extending support to OEMConfig. The concept seems to provide a win-win situation for both EMMs and OEMs. OEMs gain access to EMM vendors who can better deliver their custom features and EMMs get to expand their feature set.”, Vipin added.

From legacy Android management to zero-touch enrollment, Hexnode offers a complete Android EMM solution for enterprises all over the world.
