# How to Turn a Device Off?

The **Power Off Device** remote action allows IT administrators to remotely shut down managed endpoints to conserve battery, perform system maintenance, or secure devices reported as lost or stolen.

**Why Use the Remote Power Off Command?**
-----------------------------------------

Remote power management is essential for maintaining device health and security across an enterprise fleet. Turning off devices during non-business hours or during a security incident helps protect both the hardware and the data it contains.

- **Security:** Acts as a defense mechanism for lost/stolen assets by preventing immediate unauthorized access.
- **Battery Preservation:** Conserves power during inactive hours or long-term storage.
- **Maintenance:** Facilitates clean system updates or hardware cooling after intensive tasks.
- **Efficiency:** Allows admins to manage power states for thousands of devices from a single dashboard.

**Prerequisites and Platform Support**
--------------------------------------
