# Integrating Hexnode UEM Alerts with Microsoft Teams

How the integration works
-------------------------

This integration connects Hexnode UEM directly to your Microsoft Teams environment. Hexnode UEM cannot post directly into a Teams channel on its own; instead, it uses the Microsoft **Workflows** app (formerly Power Automate) as a bridge.

When a specific event occurs in Hexnode UEM (such as a device falling out of compliance), Hexnode UEM sends a JSON payload to a unique URL generated by your Teams workflow. The workflow receives this payload and translates it into a standard chat message, instantly notifying your IT administrators in their designated Teams channel.

Requirements and permissions
----------------------------

Before configuring the integration, ensure you have:

- **Administrative access** to the Hexnode UEM portal.
- A **Microsoft 365 account** with permissions to add apps to Microsoft Teams.
- Permission to post messages in the target Microsoft Teams channel.
- Access to the **Workflows** (Power Automate) app within Microsoft Teams.

Create a Teams workflow
-----------------------

To begin, you must add the Workflows app to Teams and create a new automated flow.

1. Open Microsoft Teams (desktop or web client).
2. Select **View more apps (…)** on the left navigation pane.
3. Type **Workflows** in the search box and select the app from the results.
4. Click **Add** or **Install**. (Tip: Right-click the app icon in your sidebar and select Pin for easy access).
5. Open the pinned Workflows app and navigate to the **My flows** tab.
6. Select **Create**, then choose **Automated cloud flow** (this may be labeled as a workflow depending on your Teams interface).
7. Give the flow a recognizable name, such as “Hexnode UEM Alerts”.

> **Note:** *Microsoft frequently updates the Teams and Power Automate interfaces. The exact template names or button locations may vary slightly from your current view.*

Generate the HTTP POST URL
--------------------------

The trigger is what listens for the alert coming from Hexnode UEM.

1. In your newly created flow, search for the HTTP trigger by typing **When an HTTP request is received** and select it.
2. Do not worry about configuring the URL just yet—Power Automate will generate the HTTP POST URL automatically after you finish configuring the action and save the flow.

Format the message using webhook data
-------------------------------------

Next, you must tell the workflow what to do once it receives the webhook data from Hexnode UEM.

1. Directly after the HTTP trigger, click to add a new action.
2. Search for Microsoft Teams and select the action to **Post a message in a chat or channel**.
3. Select your specific Team and the target Channel from the dropdown menus.
4. Click into the Message field to format how the alert will display. To pass the exact text received from Hexnode UEM, type **/** and choose **Insert expression**.
5. Paste this exact expression into the field:

    string(triggerBody()\['text'\])

       1

      string(triggerBody()\['text'\])
6. Click **Add**.
7. Click **Save** to finalize your workflow.
8. Click back into the **When an HTTP request is received** trigger block. You will see that an **HTTP POST URL** has now been generated. Copy this URL to your clipboard.

Add the URL to Hexnode UEM
--------------------------

Now that your Teams channel is ready to receive messages, you must configure Hexnode UEM to send them.

1. Log in to the Hexnode UEM portal.
2. Navigate to **Admin > Webhook**.
3. Click on **Add New**.
4. Enter an identifiable name (e.g., “Teams IT Alerts”).
5. Paste the copied Power Automate URL into the **URL** field.
6. Select the required **Authentication method** based on your specific destination’s security configuration. You can choose **No authentication, Basic authentication,** or an **Access token** (*Bearer, Basic, Custom, None*). If you select Basic authentication or an Access token, enter the respective credentials or token values in the provided fields.
7. Click **Save**.

Link the webhook to an Alert Profile
------------------------------------

The webhook is now saved in Hexnode UEM, but it requires an [Alert Profile](https://www.hexnode.com/mobile-device-management/help/alert-profiles/) to know which events to report.

1. Navigate to **Admin > Alert Profiles**.
2. Click **Add New** or edit an existing profile.
3. Configure the specific conditions that should trigger an alert (e.g., Device Enrollment, Compliance Status, or App Installation Failures).
4. Proceed to **Step 2: Actions**.
5. Locate the **Webhooks** section.
6. Select your newly created Teams webhook from the dropdown menu.
7. Click **Save**.

Test the Teams notification
---------------------------

To verify the connection before waiting for a live event, you can use the built-in test feature.

1. Navigate to **Admin > Webhook** in Hexnode UEM.
2. Click on your Teams webhook.
3. Click the **Test** button at the bottom of the window.
4. Open your designated Microsoft Teams channel. If successful, you will see a generic confirmation message. The automated test message will read: “*Webhook test successful from Teams check*“.

Sample live event message
-------------------------

Once linked to an Alert Profile, actual console and device events will flow into Teams automatically.

For example, if an administrator generates a new API key within the portal, Hexnode UEM will immediately push that event data to the channel. The live Teams message will display the event subject, the specific portal URL, and the timestamp:

> **API key generated**
>
> Hi,
>
> The API key for Hexnode MDM has been generated in your portal.
>
> Login to your admin-console.hexnodemdm.com portal for more information.
>
> Time : Jul 14, 2026 09:29:50 AM
>
> Cheers! Hexnode Team

Troubleshoot common Teams errors
--------------------------------

- **No URL generated:** If the HTTP POST URL is blank in Power Automate, ensure you have completely filled out the “Post a message” action fields and clicked Save. The URL is only generated upon a successful save.
- **Test message fails to arrive:** Check the URL in Hexnode UEM. Power Automate URLs are lengthy and include a secure Signature token (&sig=…) at the very end. Ensure the entire URL was copied and pasted into Hexnode UEM without missing characters.
- **Live events are not arriving:** If the test button works, but real alerts do not appear, the issue lies in the Alert Profile. Go to **Admin > Alert Profiles**, ensure the webhook is checked under **Step 2: Actions**, and verify that the trigger conditions are set properly.
