Remove Android Apps from Devices

Removing unnecessary or harmful apps is essential as it helps improve device performance. With Hexnode UEM, you can initiate the removal of apps installed on your Android/Android TV OS devices, over-the-air, without requiring the device to be in hand.

Notes:

  • System apps cannot be removed from the devices.
  • Any required app associated with the device via a policy can also be removed using this method.

Notes:

  • On Samsung Knox devices, LG GATE, Kyocera business phones, Android devices with Hexnode UEM app as system app, Android devices with platform signed Hexnode System Agent app and on devices enrolled in the Android Enterprise program as Device Owner the app will be removed silently on performing these methods.
  • Play Store and Managed Google Apps can be silently uninstalled from a Profile Owner enrolled device. Also, enterprise apps published as private apps in Managed Google Play console and approved as Managed Google apps can be uninstalled silently.
  • In the case of all other Android devices, app removal will raise a prompt on the device, asking the user to confirm the uninstallation.
  • Suppose the Android device is in kiosk mode with a handful of applications. Deleting any of these apps from the app inventory will cause it to be removed from the kiosk mode, but not from the device.
  • If the option ‘Remove apps from the device on policy removal’ is checked while associating Required Apps policy with a device, deployed apps will get removed from the device, when the policy is deleted or disassociated from the device or when the required app is removed from the policy or on changing the owner of the device.
