# How to create device carts for shared iPads?

Shared Device Deployment for Education
--------------------------------------

Educational institutions often deploy shared devices rather than a one-to-one ratio. Hexnode supports Shared iPads for Education, allowing students to access their personal apps and data from any device within a designated group.

**Data Isolation**: A student’s app or data cannot be accessed by other users on the same device.

**Device Carts**: A “**Cart**” is the specific term in Hexnode for a group of these shared devices.

Creating a Device Cart
-----------------------

To facilitate device sharing, administrators must first group the iPads into a Cart:

1. Navigate to **Manage** > **Device Groups** in the Hexnode UEM console.
2. Select **Add New Cart**.
3. Enter a **Name** and **Description** for the cart.
4. Add devices using one of two methods:
    - **CSV Upload**: Import device details via a file.
    - **Manual Selection**: Click **+ Add shared devices**, select the required iPads, and click **Done**.
5. Click **Save Cart**.

Assigning Carts to Users
-------------------------

Once a Cart is created, it must be assigned to specific users or classes (User Groups):

1. Navigate to **Manage** > **Device Groups**.
2. Select the specific Shared Device Group (Cart) you wish to assign.
3. Click the **Actions** drop-down and select **Assign Carts**.
4. Choose the relevant User Groups/Classes.
5. Click **Assign**.

**Result**: All members within the assigned group can now log into and use any iPad included in that specific Device Cart.
