# How to configure Bluebird (BOSTM) devices with OEMconfig? Mobile devices from Bluebird Inc. support immense Enterprise Mobility Management features that can be utilized to meet your enterprise requirements. With the advent of managed app configurations, organizations can easily deploy settings to Android Enterprise devices remotely. Integrating the OEMConfig app with Hexnode allows organizations to set up configurations for Bluebird devices using Android app configurations from the UEM console. Prerequisites:- Bluebird mobile devices enrolled in the [Android Enterprise](https://www.hexnode.com/mobile-device-management/help/how-to-enroll-organization-in-android-enterprise-using-hexnode-mdm/) program. - OEMConfig apps are vendor specific. BOSTM OEMConfig app can be used to configure settings only to Bluebird devices with Android version 6.0 and higher. Approve and add the app to the Hexnode app inventory ----------------------------------------------------- You have to approve the BOSTM OEMConfig app and add it to the Hexnode app inventory to configure the OEM configurations for Bluebird devices. 1. Navigate to **Apps**. 2. Go to **+Add Apps > Managed Google Apps.** 3. Search for [BOSTM OEMConfig](https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.bluebird.android.oemconfig&hl=en_IN) app and click on **Approve**. 4. A pop-up appears listing a set of permissions required for the app. Verify them and click **Approve**. 5. Next, you will be asked to configure **Approval Settings** and **Notifications** when BOSTM OEMConfig app requests new app permissions. Make the necessary changes on how new app permissions are to be handled and click **Done**. To deploy configurations on Bluebird devices, the BOSTM OEMConfig app must be installed on them. You can easily [ deploy the app](https://www.hexnode.com/mobile-device-management/help/install-android-app/) to the devices from the Hexnode UEM console via remote action or mandatory apps policy. Set-up OEM configurations for Bluebird mobile devices ------------------------------------------------------ Once the OEMConfig is added to the Hexnode app inventory, you can configure the device settings for the Bluebird devices from the Hexnode console. The **App Configurations** make it easier to create and deploy configurations to Android Enterprise devices. 1. Go to **Policies**. 2. You may choose the existing policy used to push the OEMConfig app to devices or create a **New Policy**. 3. Navigate to **Android > App Management > App Configurations**. 4. Click **Configure > +Add new configuration**. 5. From the list of approved apps, select the BOSTM OEMConfig app and click **Add**. 6. Configure the required settings and click **Done**. Application Configurations SettingsDescription Enabled app list Enabled app list is a comma separated list of package names to be enabled. Enabled apps will be displayed in the launcher and can be used. Disabled app list Disabled app list is a comma separated list of package names to be disabled. Disabled apps will not be visible in the launcher and hence cannot be used. Initialize app status Toggle this option to initialize app status. It enables all the disabled apps. Verify apps over USB Enable the option to show ‘Verify apps over USB’ option on the device settings. Unknown source Allow installation of apps from unknown sources by enabling this option. Note: This setting is not supported for Android 8 or later. Sets default launcher Enter the package name of the application that is to be set as the Default Launcher. Uninstall application Enter the package name of applications to be uninstalled from the device. Install apk Enter the comma-separated set of URLs that can download APK directly. The device downloads and installs the app. Wifi Configuration SettingsDescription Wifi auto wakeup Enable this option to make the device automatically switch on Wi-Fi when it detects high quality saved networks. Sets the frequency band Select the frequency band to be used for the Wi-Fi network. Wlan country code Choose the country code for the Wi-Fi network. Network notification Enable this option to display notifications when there is public network available. Remove networks Specifies the list of Wi-Fi SSIDs to be deleted. Security Select the security type to be deleted. You can choose from **NONE, WEP, PSK, EAP,** and **FT-PSK**. Enter the name of the SSID to be deleted. Specify the name of the SSID of the Wi-Fi network to be deleted from the device. Add group Admin can make use of this button to add a network to the list of networks that needs to be deleted. Add networks Specifies a list of new Wi-Fi SSIDs to be added on the device. Network name Enter the SSID or Wi-Fi name. Security Specify the security type. Available security types are: **None, WEP, PSK, EAP,** and **FT-PSK**. Password Enter the password to authenticate the Wi-Fi network. Proxy Set a proxy server. Available options are: and **PAC**. IP Settings Specify the IP setting. You can choose either **DHCP**, or **STATIC_IP**. Host/Uri Enter the proxy host. Port Enter the proxy port number. User ID Enter the User ID to be used for EAP. EAP Choose an Extensible Authentication Protocol (EAP) method to be used for the network. You can choose from **PEAP, TLS, TTLS, PWD, SIM, AKA, LEAM,** and **FAST**. Phase2Choose a method for Phase 2 authentication. Available authentication methods are: **NONE, PAP, MSCHAP, MSCHAPV2,** and **GTP**. Static IP Address Enter the static IP address for the network. Static IP Gateway Enter the static IP gateway of the Wi-Fi network. DNS list Enter DNS1 and DNS2 addresses to be used for the network. Specify them as a comma-separated list. Sound Configuration SettingsDescriptionTouch vibration Specify whether to turn on/off the vibration feedback while touching the screen. Touch sounds Select whether to play touch sounds on the device. Screen locking sounds Specify whether to play sounds when the screen lock is set or dismissed. Dial pad tones Specify whether to play sounds while dialing. Default notification sound Choose whether the default notification is enabled. Note: Not supported from Android 7.0 Nougat. Set the volume of the following : Call volume Set the voice call volume for the device. The minimum value is 1 and the maximum value is 5. Ring volume Set the ringer volume for the device. The minimum value is 0 and the maximum value is 7. Media volume Select the media volume for the device. The minimum value is 0 and the maximum value is 15. Alarm volume Select the alarm volume for the device. The minimum value is 0 and the maximum value is 7. Display configuration SettingsDescriptionScreen time out Set the amount of time after which the device screen is turned off due to inactivity. The options available are- *15 seconds*, *30 seconds*, *1 minute*, *2 minutes*, *5 minutes*, *10 minutes*, and *30 minutes*. Screen saver Choose if screen saver should be turned on/off. Auto-rotate screen Choose whether to turn on/off the automatic screen rotation on the device. Brightness level Set the screen backlight brightness. You can choose between 0 and 255. Date and time Configuration SettingsDescriptionNTP server Enter the NTP server URL. Use 24-hour format Enable this option to use 24-hour format for displaying time. Automatic date & time Enable this option to use network-provided data and time on the device. Time zone Specify the time-zone for the device. Automatic time zone Enable this option to use network-provided time zone on the device. Time Minute Set the time on the device (in minutes) for the specified time zone. HourSet the time on the device (in hours) for the specified time zone. Date DaySet the date on the device for the specified time zone. Month Set the month for the device’s system information. Year Set the year for the device’s system information. Kiosk Configuration SettingsDescription Kiosk google search widget Enable this option to see the the google search widget when the device is in kiosk mode. List of app package names to use Enter the package names of applications to be accessed on the device. Distinguish the package names using comma. Password Sets a password to access the Administrators page. Note: Password must be a number greater than 4 digits.Clip Sets the function that floating clip executes. You can turn on the flash or barcode feature. Kiosk customer name Enter the customer’s name to use the kiosk. Note: This field is essential. Kiosk state Choose whether to enable or disable Kiosk mode on the device. OTA Configuration SettingsDescriptionOTA Server URL Enter the OTA server URL. If URL is not entered, attempt OS update with default URL. OTA Data Type Enable this option to allow the download of OTA files over data connection. OTA OS upgrade start Set whether or not to start the OTA OS upgrade. If there is a higher version and if you update it, the device restarts and you will not receive feedback on the results. Disable OTA update Configure this option to disable OTA updates Battery Configuration SettingsDescriptionBattery percentage Enable this option to show battery percentage in the status bar. Connection Configuration SettingsDescriptionNFC Choose whether to turn on/off NFC. Bluetooth Choose whether to turn on/off Bluetooth. Network Configurations SettingsDescription Private DNS -By default, devices automatically upgrade to DNS over TLS if a network’s DNS server supports it. Private DNS uses the protocol DNS over TLS to ensure user privacy. Configure settings related to private DNS servers here.DNS provider hostname Enter the DNS provider hostname.Private DNS mode Choose between “Off” ,“Automatic” and “Private DNS provider hostname” Remove APN Enter the domain name of APN to be removed from the device. Add APNs APN name Enter the name of the APN to identify among other APN networks. Enter APN Domain Enter the domain name of the APN server. APN Proxy Enter the domain name or IP address of the proxy server. APN Port Specify the port number of the proxy server. Enter APN MMS Proxy Enter the domain name or IP address of the multimedia messaging proxy server. Enter APN MMS Port Specify the port number for the MMS proxy server. Enter APN Server url Enter the URL of the APN server. APN User Enter the APN username which is used for authentication. APN Password Enter the password associated with the given username. APN MMSC Enter the Multimedia Service Center (MMSC) for the APN network. APN MCC Enter the APN Mobile Country Code. APN MNC Enter the APN Mobile Network Code. APN Type Enter the comma-separated list of APN types. It should be any of the following types: default, mms, supl, dun, hipri, fota, ims, cbs, ia, or emergency. You can also use ‘*’ to allow all the specified types. Authentication type Choose the authentication type. The options available are *None*, *PAP*, *CHAP* and, *PAP* or *CHAP*. APN Protocol Select an APN protocol. The options available are, IPV4, IPV6 and IPV4/V6 APN roaming protocol Select a roaming APN protocol. The options available are, IPV4, IPV6 and IPV4/V6 APN MVNO Choose the type of Mobile Virtual Network Operator. The options available are: - SPN (Service Provider Name) - IMSI (International Mobile Subscriber Identity - GID (Group Identifier) - ICCID (Integrated Circuit Card Identifier Enter MVNO Value Enter the values of MVNO. APN Preference Enable this option to set the configured APN as the default APN. Ethernet Choose whether to turn on/off Ethernet. Input Configuration SettingsDescriptionPointer Speed The user can set the pointer speed to any level between –7 to 7. Spell checker Enable the option to turn-on the Spell checker. LanguageSet the system language of the device. Default IME Enter the package name of the default IME App. Notifications Configuration SettingsDescriptionLock screen notification Specify whether notification is to be displayed in the Lock screen state. Location Configuration SettingsDescriptionLocation mode Set the Location mode here. Choose from **HighAccuracy, BatterySaving** or **DeviceOnly**. Note: This setting is not supported for Android 8 or later. Accessibility Configuration SettingsDescriptionTouch type Set the touch type of the terminal. You have three options: **Default, Glove,** and **Rain**. Peripheral Configuration SettingsDescriptionDataWedge Mode Set the Barcode Data Wedge Mode. Select key format Set the format of the Side key from **SCAN/SCAN, SCAN/PTT, PTT/SCAN, PTT/PTT**. Log Configuration SettingsDescriptionEvent log Enable this option to include the event log. Radio log Enable this option to include the radio log. Kernel log Enable this option to include the kernel log. Main log Enable this option to include the main log. Logger state Set the state of the logger. The state of the logger can be None, Start or Stop. File download Configuration SettingsDescriptionDownload destination file path Give the location where the downloaded files must be saved. Restrictions Configuration SettingsDescriptionBlock home key Specify whether to block the home key or not. If you enable the option, the home key does not work when the user presses it. Block recent-app key Recent apps key shows a card-deck of most recently used apps on the device. You can block the recent app key by enabling this option. Block power key Enable this option to block the power key. If the option is enabled, the power key does not work when you press it. Block back key Enable this option to block back key. When you turn on the option, the back key does not work when you press it. Block volume key Turn on this option to block the volume key. If the option is enabled, the volume key will not work when it is pressed. Block vibration mode setting Disable or enable the vibration mode setting. The vibration mode cannot be set with volume up and power key combination when this option is enabled. Block status bar Specify how the status bar is to be blocked. Available options are: **All, None,** and **Quick Settings**. Block safe mode Blocking safe mode prevents the device from entering safe mode. Disable recovery mode Choose whether to disable recovery mode. Disable fastboot mode Choose whether to disable fastboot mode. Block add User/Guest Specify whether to block adding users/guest to the device. Disable lock screen Turn on the option to disable the screen lock. Disallow transferring files over USB Set whether transferring files over USB is to be prevented. Disallow bluetooth Set whether to disable Bluetooth on the device. Disallow changing Wi-Fi access points Set whether changing Wi-Fi access points is to be disabled. Disallow external mounted memory This option configures whether external mounted memory is to be disabled or not. Disallow mounting USB OTG Configure whether to disable USB OTG mounting. Disallow settings Enabling this option disallows device settings. Disable microphone and audio recording List of packages excluded from disabling microphone and audio recordingEnter the comma separated list of package name of applications that are excluded from disabling microphone and audio recording Disable microphone and audio recording in the call Set Whether to disable microphone and audio recording in the call when Microphone and Audio are blocked. Disable microphone and audio recording Enable this option to prevent microphone and audio recording on the device. Disable camera List of packages excluded from disabling camera Enter the comma-separated list of the package name of applications which are excluded from disabling the camera. Disable camera Toggle the option to disable device camera. Associate Policies with Devices / Groups ----------------------------------------- If the policy has not yet been saved. 1. Navigate to **Policy Targets**. 2. Click on **+Add Devices**. 3. Choose the devices and click **OK**. 4. Click on **Save** to apply the policies to devices. Apart from devices, you can also associate the policies with device groups, user and user groups from Policy Targets. If the policy has been saved, you can associate it with another method. 1. From **Policies** tab, check the policies to be associated. 2. Click on **Manage → Associate Targets** and choose the device. 3. Click on **Associate** to apply policy to the devices.
