Depending on how your IT Administrator configured your account, you will receive an activation email that contains either of the following:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>A <strong>Create Password<\/strong> link (if no password was set by your admin).<\/li>\n<li>A <strong>Login to your Portal<\/strong> link (if your admin has set a password, which will be shared with you separately).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3>Scenario A: You received a &#8220;Create Password&#8221; link<\/h3>\n<ol>\n<li>Click <strong>Create Password<\/strong> link in the email.<\/li>\n<li>Enter a new password and re-enter it to confirm.<\/li>\n<li>Click <strong>Create Password<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/cdn.hexnode.com\/help\/idp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/08\/Creating-a-Password-for-Hexnode-IdP-Account.png\" received a &#8220;Login to your Portal&#8221; link<\/h3>\n<ol>\n<li>Open the Hexnode IdP invitation email.<\/li>\n<li>Click on the <strong>Login to your Portal<\/strong> link in the email.<\/li>\n<li>Enter your corporate email address.<\/li>\n<li>(Optional) Select the <strong>Keep me signed in<\/strong> checkbox if you are on a trusted corporate device and click <strong>Next<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li>Enter the temporary password shared by the Hexnode IdP admin and click <strong>Sign In<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>    \t\t<div class=\"hts-messages administrator has enabled <strong>Force password reset on initial login<\/strong>, then you will be prompted to enter a new password and confirm it.<br \/>\n    \t\t\t\t<\/p>\r\n    \t\t\t <strong>QR Code<\/strong> and a <strong>32-character hash key<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<p><a your mobile Authenticator App (Google Authenticator, Microsoft Authenticator, etc.) and follow either of the following methods:\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Method 1 (QR Code)<\/strong>: Tap the option to add a new account and scan the QR code displayed on your screen.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Method 2 (Hash key)<\/strong>: If you cannot scan the QR code, copy the 32-character hash key and paste it into your authenticator app under manual entry.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<li>Your authenticator app will generate a 6-digit verification code.<\/li>\n<li>Enter this 6-digit code into the field provided and click <strong>Verify<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<h3>Option B: Email Verification<\/h3>\n<ol>\n<li>On the Hexnode IdP <strong>Setup<\/strong> screen, locate <strong>Email<\/strong> and click <strong>Set Up<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li>Hexnode IdP will automatically send a verification code to your corporate email address.<\/li>\n<p><a \t\t\t    \t\t\t\t<p>\r\n    \t\t\t\t\t<em>If you did not receive the email, click <strong>Resend Code<\/strong>.<\/em>    \t\t\t\t<\/p>\r\n    \t\t\t    \t\t\t\r\n    \t\t<\/div><!-- \/.ht-shortcodes-messages -->\r\n    \t\t\n<\/ol>\n<h3>Add a Recovery Email for your Hexnode IdP Account<\/h3>\n<p>Once you finish setting up your <strong>initial<\/strong> MFA method (either Authenticator App or Email), Hexnode IdP will return a <strong>Recovery Email<\/strong> setup screen.<\/p>\n    \t\t<div class=\"hts-messages hts-messages--info  hts-messages--withtitle hts-messages--withicon \"   >\r\n    \t\t\t<span class=\"hts-messages__title\">Recommended:<\/span>    \t\t\t    \t\t\t\t<p>\r\n    \t\t\t\t\t<br \/>\nIt is strongly recommended to set up a recovery email. This ensures you can regain access to your Hexnode IdP account if you lose your phone (containing the Authenticator App) or access to your primary email inbox.    \t\t\t\t<\/p>\r\n    \t\t\t    \t\t\t\r\n    \t\t<\/div><!-- \/.ht-shortcodes-messages -->\r\n    \t\t\n<h4>To set up a recovery email<\/h4>\n<ol>\n<li>Enter an alternative personal email address and click <strong>Send Verification Code<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li>Enter the code received and click <strong>Verify Code<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n    \t\t<div class=\"hts-messages hts-messages--info  hts-messages--withtitle hts-messages--withicon \"   >\r\n    \t\t\t<span class=\"hts-messages__title\">Important:<\/span>    \t\t\t    \t\t\t\t<p>\r\n    \t\t\t\t\t<br \/>\nYou can bypass the recovery email configuration by clicking Skip. However, you will not be able to add a recovery email later.    \t\t\t\t<\/p>\r\n    \t\t\t    \t\t\t\r\n    \t\t<\/div><!-- \/.ht-shortcodes-messages -->\r\n    \t\t\n<p>Once completed or skipped, you will return to the main factor setup page that displays a green checkmark next to your configured factor.<\/p>\n<p>    \t\t<div class=\"hts-messages hts-messages--info  hts-messages--withtitle hts-messages--withicon \"   >\r\n    \t\t\t<span class=\"hts-messages__title\">Important:<\/span>    \t\t\t    \t\t\t\t<p>\r\n    \t\t\t\t\t<br \/>\nIf you want to set up both MFA factors (Authenticator App and Email), you must configure the second factor <strong>now<\/strong> before clicking <strong>Save<\/strong>. The option to add a second MFA factor is <strong>only available<\/strong> during this <strong>initial setup<\/strong> flow.
