Migrating your fleet to Hexnode just got better with the macOS Gateway app. Most of you might already be familiar with the application, but for those who aren’t, macOS Gateway assists with the migration of macOS devices to Hexnode UEM without the need to perform a device wipe.

Efficient management of organizational assets is crucial for every organization, and accommodating and managing the growing needs may sometimes involve switching MDMs. This makes a migration tool a crucial part of the device management toolkit. And as you probably already heard during the keynote session at our in-person user conference, HexCon24, the Gateway app for macOS has a couple new tricks under its sleeve.

What’s new with the latest update?

  • Renew and escrow FileVault Recovery Key: With this update, you can renew and escrow the FileVault recovery during the migration process itself, avoiding unnecessary complications in the future.
  • Defer migration: This allows the user to defer the migration by a specified interval of time ranging from 30 minutes to the next day.
  • Automatically remove device from existing MDM: Automate the migration process by automatically removing the device from the existing MDM.
  • App customization: Customize the Hexnode gateway app with your organization’s logo for a consistent user experience and for adhering to your organizational standards.
  • Elevate standard account: Changes standard user accounts to administrator accounts during migration. Once the migration is complete, the account will be reverted to a standard account.

It might take a while for these changes to reflect on your portal. In the meantime, you can check out our updated help doc on macOS migration using the Gateway app. And as always, feel free to hit us up with your queries, and feedback. Happy Migrating!
