Adding apps to Android Kiosk

expand collapsive

hey everyone! We’ve pushed our work app in an android kiosk and it seems as though they’re unable to add any files from the file manager. They need to do so to send different images etc to our clients. Any solution?

  • Hi everyone, thanks for posting on our forum!

You can add the file manager app on your device to the multi-app kiosk, @Grayson. This can be done by navigating to Policies > Kiosk Lockdown > Android Kiosk Lockdown > Multi App Kiosk. Then add the required app by clicking on the ‘+’ button in the basic view, or drag and drop the required apps in advanced view. Associate the policy with the device once you are done with the configuration.

Feline Jones, could you please tell us the devices that you are handling? The issue could be occurring because of a wrong app being added.

  • Thanks for your response, Feline Jones!

You can add the required app to a multi-app kiosk after checking its corresponding bundle ID from the Applications subtab in the Manage tab. In your case, if you are using the default file manager app, please add the File Manager app with the identifier com.oneplus.filemanager in the kiosk policy. Please check and update if this works for you. You can find the detailed steps in this troubleshooting documentation.

This will let the users access the app in the kiosk. Please refer to the documentation on multi-app kiosk for detailed steps.

  • Hey there, @Grayson! Thanks for reaching out to us.

We understand the need for your company policy. It is precisely to help you in this sort of dilemma that we have the Background Apps feature. With this, you can add the required app under Policies > Kiosk Lockdown > Android Kiosk Lockdown. You can add the File Manager app corresponding to your device here. The apps that you add here will not be directly accessible in the kiosk, but any particular app that is directly used by the employees can invoke this app.

Feel free to ask if you’ve any more doubts, or you can refer to the documentation on
    background apps for more info.

    Hope that helps.

    Cheers!
