iPad got locked due to unlock failure

expand collapsive

Hi, one of our employees forgot the iPad password and now it has become disabled after some incorrect attempts. We’re afraid that if we try again, it will get permanently locked. What can be done? Any suggestions?

You can use the Clear Password action on the device to remove the passcode. If the device is currently locked out due to incorrect password attempts, you’ll be able to clear the password from the portal only after the lock-out period ends. This will let the user log in to the device.

However, don’t forget to add a Passcode Policy to the device to ensure that the device is always passcode protected. This can be configured by navigating to Policies > iOS > Passcode. If a passcode policy has already been associated with the device, the user will be prompted to set a new password.

    Hope this helps.

Hi there, @Ezekiel! Thanks for reaching out!

Yes, you are setting the passcode’s complexity criterion with the passcode policy. If you’ve already set a passcode and if you’re sure you won’t have to associate the passcode policy, you can disable the Modify passcode feature under Policies > iOS > Advanced Restrictions > Allow Security and Privacy Settings. Do note that this feature is supported only on supervised devices running iOS 9 or later.

    Hope that resolves your issue.

    Cheers!
