Forcing App Update

The easiest way to ensure that an app is always updated, when a new version is available, is by adding this specific app to a mandatory apps policy. Associating this policy with your target devices shall ensure that the apps are updated.

When the devices are enrolled via Android Enterprise as a Device Owner in Android devices, both store and in-house applications are automatically updated silently on the devices. However, please ensure the app is added to the Hexnode app inventory for seamless automatic updates. You can learn more about the same in our official help document.

When iOS devices are supervised, in-house applications are silently updated on the devices. However, store apps shall require a VPP license for that specific application/ mandate an Apple account to be present on the device. You can learn more about this in our official help document for iOS devices.

Other devices shall prompt the end user that an app update is available, the end user can then update this app on their end, through this prompt.
