Hi..my organization recently bought devices with different OS versions…need to install work profiles on all of them. How can I check if it is possible for all devices?

As Finley mentioned, Android devices with OS versions 5.0+ support the installation of work profiles. However, you can always be sure! You just need to locate and install an application called “Test DPC”. It downloads two shortcuts, “Test DPC” and “Set up Test DPC”. Tap on “Set up Test DPC” and click on “Set up” on the screen that appears next. If it is possible to set up a work profile on your device, you will be prompted accordingly.

If not, the screen will display an error message telling you that your device does not support work profiles.

    Hope this clears your query.

Not able to enroll some Samsung devices to the portal. Got the strange error: “Cannot create a work profile – The security policy prevents the creation of a managed device because a custom os is or has been installed on this device”. strange because the devices have enrolled before in the same portal which means work profile is supported. And there is no custom OS. What to do?

    Hello Leighten,

Thank you for reaching out to us.

Unfortunately, this is an issue with Samsung Knox devices. There is a unique feature called Knox Warrant Bit to detect malicious software installed on your device. It seems like somehow the Warranty Bit is getting triggered, preventing enrollment to Hexnode. Here are a few things that you can try:

    1. Install the app “Google Apps Device Policy”.
    2. Enroll again after performing a factory data reset from the Settings app.
    3. Update the OS to the latest version.

    Cheers
