Arrangement of icons on iOS device screen using Hexnode

expand collapsive

My question is about the icon arrangement on an iPad. If we use Apple Configurator and once the profile removed, the icons are getting re-arranged. Is there any action that we can do to keep the order of the icons?

Hey, Thanks for reaching out to us.

Hexnode lets you arrange the icons on the screen of supervised iOS devices.
To configure how the apps are arranged on-screen:

    1. Navigate to Policies-> iOS-> Configurations-> Home Screen Layout. Click Configure.
    2. You can add either Apps, App groups or Web clips to the home screen layout and dock.
    3. You can also increment the layout page by clicking on the + button present below the layout screen.
    4. Associate targets and save the policy.

Check out the help doc on Home Screen Layout for more info.

    Cheers!

Hey, Thanks for reaching out to us.

The user will not be able to uninstall any applications from the device unless the Home Screen Layout policy is removed from the device. However, please note that the admin will be able to uninstall the apps from the device using Hexnode MDM.

    Hope this helps!

  • Hello Harriet,

Thank you for reaching out to us.

You can create app folders in iOS through Hexnode. Go to Apps > App groups > Add group. Give a name, description (optional) and add the necessary apps. Save the group and add it in the layout you created. You can add app groups even to the dock of the device. On iPhone if more than four apps/app groups/webclips  are added, then only the first four items would be shown in the iPhone dock and the rest would be hidden. However above iOS 11, the iPad dock fits up to 13 apps at once, and up to 6 apps till iOS 10.3.3.

Read our help doc on customizing Home Screen Layout to know more.

    Cheers!!

  • @harriet This usually happens when:

    1. The apps are not installed on the device.
    2. The apps are already added to the dock/new page in the layout of the device. Even if you add the apps at two places, say, inside the folder and outside a folder, they will only reside at one place, either inside or outside the folder.

    Hope that helps.

    Cheers!!
